Miriam Collada

I am a dual licensed provider (LMFT and LPCC) who is passionate about helping. I provide in person care in San Diego and virtual care throughout California and Oregon. I moved to San Diego, California from Oregon to pursue my Bachelor’s in Psychology with a minor in Spanish.

I took a brief break to work in the field of mental health before continuing to obtain my Master’s in Marriage and Family and Therapy with an Emphasis in Working with Latinos/as. My father is Cuban and my mother is New Orleanian which supported the development of a deep care as well as awareness about how culture influences our lives. This informs my approach as a provider. I consider, explore, and inquire about the cultural discourses or norms that might be having an impact on one’s life. I do this with curiosity and in a collaborative way.

I am not an expert of your life or your problems. I do hope my knowledge, training, skills, and own experience might help you on the journeys throughout your life. Some things I have experience with include Neurodivergence, Life Transitions, LGBTQIA+, Anxiety, Relationships, Relationships with Body Image or Food, Active Duty Military, and Veterans. I provide individual and relational care to adults and adolescents. I have worked with many problems, populations, and in several areas as I have been in the mental health field for over 15 years.

I have been counseling for over 10 of those years and licensed for over 4 years. From this experience, I have identified a preference for a collaborative and curious approach. I can be direct, but I always ask to confirm that my understanding aligns with your experience. I am rarely directive or homework oriented unless it is requested agreed upon.

I do like to share worksheets and handouts as resources. I am aware I am not the right fit for everyone, and I encourage everyone to advocate for a provider that feels helpful for them.
