Your child isn’t lazy, and they aren’t broken.
Something happened while they were growing up. Maybe it was a classroom where they always felt stupid. Maybe a home where every conversation turned into a fight, or a religious world that felt more like judgment than belonging. They learned to shut down to get through it.
Now it shows up as avoidance, anger, anxiety, or a kid who says “I’m fine” and clearly isn’t.
That’s the work I do. For 18 years I’ve helped teens and young adults put words to what happened, make sense of it, and stop carrying it alone. I’m especially at home with families where faith matters, including families where faith has become the battleground.
My style is direct, warm, and relational. Clients quickly learn they can be honest with me, and that whatever they’re feeling... is OK.
Training includes IFS, DBT, and trauma-focused care, with direct consultation from Bessel van der Kolk, Janina Fisher, and Frank Anderson.
